On Tuesday 20th December 2022, an alleged coup plot has been foiled by the SIS.  According to sources, a handful of soldiers from various wings of the national army and a few civilians have been named as suspects. The national security adviser briefed the press on Wednesday on the situation as it stands; five members of the army are helping with the investigations. The adviser said, the coup plotters had meetings in various parts of the country and contacted civilian sponsors both in and outside the country prior to the coup.
